Here are 3 Things to Look for When Purchasing Sunblock for your Face

When purchasing a sunblock for your face, here are the 3 things we suggest you look for:

#1. Your facial SPF should be at least a number 30.

Any number below 30 isn't giving much protection, and any number above 30 is doing what a 30 does.

Regardless of the number on your SPF, it is important to reapply it at least every 2 hours of consistent sun exposure.

When your skin starts to feel HOT, reapply.

#2. Your facial sunblock should read “UVA/UVB Protectant” or “Broad Spectrum.” This means that you are being protected from all rays produced by the sun.

UVA rays Age our skin, they penetrate deep and damage collagen. UVB rays Burn our skin, they penetrate just below the surface of our skin causing burns. You want to protect against both!

UVA Ages. UVB Burns

#3. Zinc oxide and/or Titanium dioxide are the Active Ingredients you want in your facial SPF. When these 2 ingredients are the active ingredients it means that it is going to work.

These 2 ingredients work by preventing the sun's rays from ever being able to touch your skin. Chemical sunscreens work differently in that they diffuse the rays so that part of it can still reach your skin.

Use Zinc Oxide Sunblock. Here is our favorite.

Aside from the 3 things we mentioned above, the rest of what you are looking for when you purchase a facial sunblock is: Is it water-proof? Is it moisturizing? What does it feel like? Etc. As long as it meets the above criteria, you will know it is protecting you from the sun.
